In 2020, I led the redesign of the Renovation Hub, a back-office platform created to centralize renovation data and improve cost control. This tool enabled teams to track budgets and expenses in one place, creating a single source of truth.

2020
Pandemic changed relationship with home and stimulated reforms. With the restrictive measures, people started to work and study remotely, and invest in their living environment. Due to the pandemic, the consumption of renovations and reforms in Brazil increased by 30% to about 40%.
The sector's revenue growth was the second-highest during the pandemic, with an increase of 5.5%.
According to Grupo Consumoteca, 55% of class A and 39% of class C made some decoration changes during this period.
As the number of renovation projects increased, we realized the importance of having better cost control over them. To help our operation and teams, we created a back-office platform to inform our renovation budget and cost per apartment. Enabling RaaS teams to scale their operation based on well-established tools and processes from renovation design to planning
Mybox was a back-office platform to help our operation and renovation squads gather data from apartment renovations. However, the platform was slow and confusing and didn't contain all the necessary information for the teams to use. Along with Mybox, we had other sources of data regarding renovation budget costs, but we lacked a single source of truth.
Business Problem
Low data accuracy generates less liquidity for apartments available for sale.
User Problem
The user is afraid of making bad decisions with the information they have.
Problems found in Mybox
the former renovation platform
Unused Information: Some information saved in Mybox isn’t being used, which adds unnecessary clutter.
Confusing Data: Users found some information that seemed unclear or contradictory.
Slow Performance: The platform runs slowly, frustrating for teams who use it often.
No Central Budget Tracking: The platform has no place to see all budget info, making it hard to keep track.
Different Terms: Some terms on the platform don’t match the terms teams use daily, leading to misunderstandings.
We also did facilitation to consolidate ideas, determine which points we should focus on, and gather insights from different users.
As the platform is used at different times by teams related to renovations, it was essential to understand the most critical points for them when redesigning this tool.
With the crazy eight facilitation, I ranked the features that most appeared in the users' drawings to better understand what features we should strike first and estimate the time these changes would take.
With my team's help, I categorized the information needed in this new version.
